These terms and conditions apply to the following NAAF Grants: Research Grants, Early Career Awards. Review terms below or download PDF here. Applications: All award descriptions, RFPs and applications for available NAAF Grants and Awards can be found on the website here. Eligibility: Applicants must hold the degree of MD, DO, and/or PhD (or equivalent) and be eligible to apply for grants under the guidelines of their host institution, as specified in the RFP. Investigators and institutions throughout the world are welcome to apply. Evidence of IRB or IACUC (or equivalent) approval is required for all studies when relevant. Recipients of past or current NAAF grants are eligible to apply, though preference may be given to individuals who have not received prior NAAF funding for Early Career Awards. Budgeting: Budgets must be prepared in U.S. dollars. Specific budget justification guidelines are provided on the grant application. Departmental and Indirect Costs: Award funds are to be used only for the designated recipient and project for which the application was submitted. Award funds may not be used for indirect costs of the institution or department. Publications and Presentations: Public dissemination of the funded research (e.g., publications, abstracts, posters, presentations) must acknowledge support from “National Alopecia Areata Foundation (NAAF)”. In the case of posters and presentations, the NAAF logo should be included. NAAF should be notified of any such published work at least two weeks before public dissemination, and a copy of any such public dissemination should be forwarded to research@naaf.org. Renewals: NAAF Grants are non-renewable awards, unless otherwise specified. Institutional Signature Requirements: The signature of the appropriate sponsoring institution official must be included on the application face page to verify that the proposed research has met all institutional requirements. See specific grant applications for further details. Inventions/Intellectual Property: NAAF makes no claim to intellectual property/ inventions derived from work supported by NAAF grants. Grant recipients must follow the intellectual property policies of their host institution, including, if required, the assignment to the grantee institution of title in any invention work to which they have contributed. Any intellectual property generated as a result of a NAAF award will remain the property of the grantee. All inventions made with the support, in whole or in part, with grants from NAAF shall be reported by the grantee institution as part of the Final Scientific Report in confidence to NAAF. No Cost Extensions: No cost extensions will be considered on a case-by-case basis and must be submitted by email to research@naaf.org. Requests must be received no later than 30 days prior to the program end date. Multiple Submissions: Individuals may not serve as principal investigator on more than one application to the same grant program in the same cycle. However, individuals may serve in different roles in multiple applications in the same cycle (e.g. as a collaborator). revised 9.19.24
